"Widely seen as the pre-eminent new writing workshop for veterans, the New York University Veterans Writing Workshop was where I personally found a group and environment worth coming back to, week after week, to hone my craft with like-minded souls."

-- Matt Gallagher, The New York Times

About The Workshop

The NYU Veterans Writing Workshop is a free, non-partisan outreach program offered to the veteran community in and around New York City.

On Saturday mornings (10am-12pm)from September to May, experienced and dedicated NYU Creative Writing Fellows lead a weekly writing workshop for veterans. This workshop is free of charge and offers participants the opportunity to express themselves on paper and to explore the basics of the craft of writing in a welcoming community of fellow veteran writers.

We are indebted to Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith for founding the NYU Veterans Writing Workshop. We are also grateful to the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust for their invaluable support.
